What?
This year, Eye On Global Health, a student-led initiative, is organizing an exhibition centered around care. We hope to curate various forms of artistic expression, including photography, paintings, drawings, poems, songs, videos, and so on. We need your input to make this exhibition happen! Anyone is welcome to submit!
Why this exhibition?
As current masters students studying global health, we feel that knowledge is often, if not always, communicated in the format of academic writings through published literature. While it is one form of communication, it is not the only way. Especially since global health is a field centered around health, wellbeing, life, and death, we want to provide an outlet for people to explore other forms of expression and communication in a non-academic setting. Since health is a topic which relates to every single one of us, we would like to invite you all to share some of your perspectives.
Why care?
While data is the tool one uses to convey a message and generate knowledge in this field, one can sometimes feel desensitised when looking at pure data every day. As global health students, we care about health and wellbeing; the act of caring is a not-so-often-mentioned and often-assumed part in achieving health. For this exhibition, we want to highlight care in the hope of eliciting emotions and feelings as we contemplate how to achieve health equity and wellbeing for all. Take a minute and reflect on the following: Are there caregivers you want to highlight? What does care mean to you? How do you conceptualize care?
There is also the possibility of re-exhibiting the work in Asta Bar in Cinemateket during Global Health Film Days in April. More details will follow.
